Global Warming is an increase in the average temperature
of the earth atmosphere and the ocean over the past century believed to be
caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by human activities. According to scientists,
it is a great concern and phenomenon believed to pose great threat to the
entire humanity. Since late 19th Century and early 20th Century, the rising
temperature of the earth surface has nearly doubled in the last 50 years, of
which it is projected to increase further, according to the National Science
Academic of all Industrialized Nations.
Scientific Fact for Global Warming
"Scientific evidence for warming of the climate system is unequivocal". However, "ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities, and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position".
Green-house gasses are produced or emitted to the atmosphere as a result of
various human activities which blocks heat from escaping; most heat is absorbed
by greenhouse gases. These gases remain semi-permanent in the atmosphere, which
do not respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature, and
"forcing" climate change. Examples of greenhouse gases are
methane gas, water vapor, CO2 produced by volcano eruption and
respiration.Natural and Man-Made Cause
Global Warming is said to have been caused by many things, which can
be grouped in two areas; “natural and anthropogenic” . Natural causes are
causes, which is by no means from nature. Some examples of natural cause of global
warming would be ‘methane gases’ released from arctic tundra and wetlands, volcano eruptions and
the earth going through the cycle of climate change, usually last about 40,000 years.
Scientists are 95-100% certain that the primary cause of climate change is the
increased concentrations of greenhouse
gases produced by human activities. Anthropogenic (man-made)
causes contribute the larger parts to climate change, resulting to global
warming. Burning fossil fuels give off a greenhouse gas called CO2, pollution,
deforestation, nitrous oxide “A powerful greenhouse gas produced by soil
cultivation practices”, Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) “Synthetic compounds of
entirely of industrial origin used in a number of applications”, population,
which mean “more people, more food, and more means of transportation” etc.
These various pictures depict how both "Natural and Man-Made" causes had contributed to climate change, which has also result to Global warming.
Climate change is a significant change in weather over period
of time as a result of increased concentration of greenhouse gases produced by
human activities. In other words, it is a major change in temperature, precipitation
or wind patterns. Generally speaking, climate change poses great and
significant risks to humanity and its habitats. Over the past century, human
activities have released large amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere, which has result in global warming. Amongst the
potential impacts of global climate change would be "rising sea levels;
melting snow and ice; more extreme heat events, fires and drought; and more
extreme storms, rainfall and floods". According to scientists, they
project that these causes of action would continue and in some cases
accelerate, posing significant risks to human health, our forests, agriculture,
freshwater supplies, coastlines, economy, environment, quality of life and
other natural resources.
